Past and present meet on the Museum Island

The Museum Island contains the harbour, the boatyard and "Tunet" - the meeting place of the Vikings.

The Museum Harbour holds the the large collection of traditional Nordic wooden boats and the reconstructed Viking ships, which provide an image of how the original ships looked 1,000 years ago.

The Boatyard evhibits the craftsmanship and boat-building culture of the Viking Age. There is an opportunity here to step into an active boatyard and follow the boat-builders at close quarters.

The "Tunet" forms the basis for the summer activities. Visit the craftsmen in their open workshops or participate actively yourself and produce your own coin.

  • The blacksmith is working on Tunet in the summertime
  • They are working on a Lynæsjolle in the boatyard
