Daily summer sailing trips on Roskilde Fjord

Experience what it was like to be a Viking on board one of the Viking Ship Museum’s traditional Nordic boats, which are the direct descendents of Viking ships. Everyone on board takes part in rowing, setting the sail and other ‘sailor’s work’.

- (all day)

At the Viking Ship Museum you can go directly from the encounter with the 1000 year old original viking ships on exhibit in the Viking Ship Hall to the Museum Harbour where you can go on a sailing trip in one of the viking ships' direct decendants - the traditional nordic wooden boats - which now 1000 years later are still built according to the same principles and methods as used by the vikings. And Yes - we also use the very same energy source to move forward - oars and sail and the muscle power of the crew.
From 1st May to 30th September, you can sail out on Roskilde Fjord every day. There are 1 – 2 sailing trips every day of the week. During the Danish summer holiday there are 9-11 sailing trips a day.
