During the weekend of 16 - 18 August 2019, the floating festival “Meet the Fjord's wooden boats”, will be held, and on Saturday 17 August, the folk music festival “Roots, Feet & voices” will begin and we will celebrate the Viking Ship Museum's 50th anniversary. Throughout the day and the evening, these three parties melt together.
August 17th: The Viking Ship Museum celebrates 50 years anniversary
On the occasion of the Viking Ship Museum's 50th anniversary, the museum is open until 22:00, and the entrance is free for everyone between 17:00 - 22:00. Café Knarr is also open late, so you can celebrate the museum with a beer until 00.00. Furthermore there will be several smaller booths serving coffee and beer. If you’re hungry Café Knarr offers New Nordic Viking Food and we will also get a visit from a number of street food carts.

August 16th – 18th: 'Wooden Boats from the Fjord' Festival and Regatta
This year the Viking Ship Museum hosts the traditional wooden boat Festival “Wooden Boats from the Fjord ”, where proud skippers meet and share their common passion; the traditional, clinker built wooden boats from Isefjord and Roskilde Fjord.
Drop by and watch the boat race or have a chat with the skippers about how the boats were sailed and why the owners invest sweat, time and grease to maintain the old wooden boats using traditional crafts and materials.
August 17th: Folk Music Festival “Rødder, Fødder, Stemmer”
'Rødder, Fødder, Stemmer' is Roskilde's newest folk music festival, and participation the Folk Music Festival free of charge from 17:00 - 24:00. The festival will begin at 14.00 and the day offers free games, musical sessions, flash mobs, workshops, small concerts and general fun. All Museums visitors with n entrance ticket can participate in the Festival fra 14:00 also.
