Stories from the Towns

Written and archaeological sources can today give us an insight into what life was like in Danish towns during the Viking Age. Perhaps you can tell one of these stories from "the town":

  • Write a diary entry for a day in the life of Viking boy Eric, when he comes to the town of Ribe for the very first time with his father. Who does he meet? What are his experinces? What does he think of the town?
  • Draw a cargo ship which is unloading its wares in Haithabu's harbour. Think about where these wares have come from and write down what you experience in Haithabu, what you will do and where you will go afterwards.
