Lovns Lake

25km southwest of Aars, Lovns peninsula just sticks out into one of Limfjord’s side inlets. In the Viking Age, there was considerable activity around Lovns Lake, which was possibly navigable then. Long halls and pit houses have been found – evidence of both production and trade. There have also been many metal detector discoveries including a coin hoard that was probably buried in the 1050s when the Norwegian King Harald Hardrada wreaked havoc along Limfjord.
