The music group Virelai at the Chieftain’s Feast

Virelai is an old French name for the beauty of music, dance and poetry. The music group will use Nordic ballads and European dance melodies to take you on an historic journey to the Viking Age and the roots of Medieval music.

Virelai will provide entertainment at the Chieftain’s Feast with songs of dangerous voyages, foreign lands and cultural meetings. The guests at the feast will be invited up to chain dancing on both days and on Saturday we will have Denmark’s best fire dancer’s from ‘Flammentanz’.

Virelai was formed in 1999 and have played more than 200 concerts at museums, festivals, music venues and Viking and medieval markets around Scandinavia and Central Europe. The group consists of:

Anna Katrin Egilstrød: Vocals, drums and flute
Martin Seeberg: Flute, shawm and viola
Søren Hammerlund: hurdy-gurdy and mandola
Juan Pino: davul, darbouka and percussion
