Vorbasse

The village of Vorbasse has been excavated by archaeologists for almost 30 years.
The many findings of buildings from the Iron Age and Viking Age have formed the basis of the theory of the migrating village of ancient times, with houses built upon wooden posts that were in the ground for a maximum of 30 years.
When they were worn out, a new house was built nearby, which eventually resulted in the settlements of past ages moving around within a relatively small area.

Today, nothing visible remains in Vorbasse from the Viking Age, but the village setting has been recreated at Vikingcenter Fyrkat.
