South Jutland Museum

Daily life in the border region during the Viking Age is exactly what the South Jutland Museum in Haderslev investigated a few years ago in a special exhibition, in which one of the absolute highlights was the harness saddle from Elstrup on Als island, other favourites were a reconstruction of a pit house, a dugout canoe and some fascinating grave finds, including a very special silver crucifix from a woman buried in a carriage chassis from the mid-900s.The museum has developed an excellent app Oldtidsglimt that takes you on an exploration tour of the whole area by way of texts, images and maps of important finds, settlements and rune stones.
