Skjoldungen reached Narsaq friday afternoon and will stay there until sunday morning. There are many things to be done.

Skjoldungen docked in the old colonial harbor of Narsaq friday afternoon after a beatiful cruise. The crew have set up their tents near a small stream and saturday morning they woke up to a cloudy sky and no wind at all.

A busy day

Skjoldungen will stay in Narsaq today saturday being busy with many activities. A small outboard motor must be purchased and a bracket produced for its attachement to the ship. Some quite challenging cruises lies ahead with long stretches pulling the oars. The mischievous winds in the fjords can be so strong that the crew might not be able to row up against them and the ship risk to be caught in open waters without being able to reach a harbor. In such an event the small motor will make sure they can safely proceed.

During the day the crew will also visit the local norsemen-museum and some of the ruins nearby as well as the local musical festival taking place this weekend. The crew were given a couple of kilos whale meat from a fisherman who caught a minke whale the other day so onight's menu will undoubtly contain whale steak.

Skjoldungen is expected to leave Narsaq and head for Arsuk tomorrow morning at 5 o'clock local time (9 danish time). The early rise is due to the fact that the crew will have to row quite a distance to get out of the fjord, which they have to do before the usual strong inbound wind rises around 11.
