Resting in the "big city"

Planning of the next stretch has already begun

Skjoldungen has reached Paamiut - "the city at the fjord's mouth" with about 1500 inhabitants.

Skjoldungen is now in Paamiut which is a big city compared to the small settlements and desolate natural harbors the ship has visited the past weeks. The name Paamiut means "the people living at the fjord's mouth" and there are about 1500 of them in comparison with the 144 souls of Arsuk and just 25 of Quassimiut.

The past few days of cruising have been almost perfect. Except from the desire for a little bit more wind it has been ideal weather for crossing the open waters.

Yesterday it was one of the crew members' birthday and it was celebrated with flags and ice cream. A little bit of partying served the crew well. The three weeks of cruising and rowing is beginning to take its toll and the crew needs to rest and recover.

Skjoldungen will stay in Paamiut 1-3 days.
