Daily summer tours

(26th of June until 15th of August, 2021)

During the summer holidays we offer free daily tours for the whole family. All tours are conducted by our skilled guides who are history or archeology students.

Their stories bring the original ships to life and put the discovery of the five Skuldelev ships in perspective in relation to the maritime culture of the Viking Age - and provide an insight into how the Vikings changed the world with their ships.

14.30: 'Viking talks'

The story is brought to life when our skilled communicators give 'Viking Talks' and take up various topics from the Viking Age.

The overall theme this summer at the Viking Ship Museum is Ships, War and Royal Power.

In the exciting 'Viking talks' you will therefore hear changing stories about 'The shiny steel', Royal Power, Women in the Viking Age or the Longship - 'The Dragon of the Vikings'.

Duration: approx. 30 minutes

15.00: The Vikings' ships - outdoor tour on the Museum Island

Join us on a guided tour at the Museum Island, where we look closer at the reconstructed Viking ships.

The ships are testimonials to the Viking Age's sea voyages , war, expeditions and trade, but also the museum's years long working to recreate the ships from the Viking Age.

12.30 and 14.00: Go on warfare - free family tour (DK/ENG)

The Viking ship is just a small dot on the great, endless sea. The foreign coast appears in the horizon. What awaits the many warriors on board the Longship?

Take the whole family on an imaginative tour at child level, where everyone is involved in the exciting story of the Vikings' long journeys and life at sea 1000 years ago.
