Sebbersund dugout boat

Boatbuilders Morten Møller and Peter Rasmussen built a reconstruction of a dugout boat found at Sebbersund, north Jutland. The reconstruction was designed by archaeologist Morten Johansen and boatbuilder Hanus Jensen.

It was the finished boat that was the focus of the project and not the actual process of construction. Therefore, we used chainsaws and other modern tools. The most important thing was that the boat would be completed in the same size, materials and surface finish that we estimate the original boat had.
