Sjørring Ramparts

Archaeologists believe that Sjørring was a centre of power in Viking times and the early Middle Ages. From here, the major road through Thy was controlled by a fortress. Today, you can still see the nearly 8m high earthworks and ramparts, which at that time were beside the now drained Sjørring and Sperring Lakes. Archaeological excavations have made various finds from this era, including a sword. There are info-panels explaining the site.
