At the Boatyard, the museum’s boatbuilders construct reconstructions of Viking ships and other traditional wooden boats using historic craft traditions. Get close to the work and learn about the techniques, materials and tools used to bring the ships of the past to life.
Throughout the summer, you can also meet craftspeople working with rope making, blacksmithing, textile crafts and woodcarving – all skills that have played an important role in the maritime culture surrounding Nordic wooden boats.
