Commercial use in books, CD-ROMs, weekly magazines, journals, projector presentations, TV/film, and the Internet.
Non-commercial use for archives, libraries, exhibitions, and use in scientific publications.
Delivery Terms
- Delivery requires a formal application for permission to reproduce digital photos and drawings from the Viking Ship Museum’s Picture Archive. The application form can be requested by contacting the Picture Archive.
- If the same image is to be used in multiple media (e.g. print, e-book, and web spin-off of the same publication), a separate application must be submitted for each medium.
- No exclusive rights are granted for reproduction.
- Upon approval of the application, a contract will be issued. The agreement is valid for one-time publication and for one edition only.
- All images are delivered in digital format: 20 x 25 cm at 300 ppi for photographs and 1200 ppi for drawings. Additional costs may apply for other photographic work, including larger image files.
- Standard delivery time is approximately 30 days. Express service (within one week) is available at an additional cost.
Terms of Reproduction
- Copyright of all images and illustrations remains with the Viking Ship Museum.
- A copy of the publication in which the reproduction appears must be sent unsolicited and free of charge to:

Copyright: The Viking Ship Museum, Roskilde. Photo/illustration: [Name]. - Permission to use the image is granted solely for the agreed purpose (as described in the contract).
- Images may not be resold, copied, or lent to third parties without written permission from the Viking Ship Museum.
- Electronic storage is not permitted without prior written consent from the Museum, except for temporary handling during the production process or agreed online use. All electronic copies must be deleted immediately after use.
- Images published online must be in low resolution, maximum 1000 pixels wide. The publication license is valid only for the agreed period, up to a maximum of one year. For extensions, please contact the Picture Archive.
- Images may not be altered, merged, or electronically manipulated without written permission from the Viking Ship Museum.
- Original media will not be lent out.
