Classic, traditional and former working boats from Ireland and the UK have been invited to Dublin to join the escort for the Sea Stallion from Glendalough.

When the Sea Stallion leaves the River Liffey on Sunday 29th June around noon at the start of her 1,400-nautical-mile voyage home to Roskilde, a lot of ships will follow in escort.

The invitation has been issued by the Dublin Bay Old Gaffers Association (DBOGA) which is holding its Traditional Boat Rally on the last weekend of June at the Poolbeg Yacht and Boat Club and Marina on the River Liffey.

The Association exists to promote gaff-rigged sailing and has an active membership throughout Ireland of over 200.
The Dublin Bay fleet consists of classic, former working boats and Galway boat Hookers.

DBOGA Hon. Sec., Sean Walsh, says "We want to ensure that the Sea Stallion from Glendalough and her crew get the best possible Irish send-off on their voyage home. This lovely old sailing craft, built here in Dublin many centuries ago, should receive nothing less than that."
