At 11 o’clock this morning, the Sea Stallion sailed out of Hals and headed south for the Isefjord in Zealand. The 60-man crew had almost exactly 12 hours rest in Hals at the mouth of Limfjord.
It was 10.30 pm when Sea Stallion moored at the Limfjord’s most easterly town last night, because gale force winds had been forecast for the Kattegat. The sailing club in Hals was really paying attention.
“The club served us hot soup made when we arrived, and they had a big room at the harbour where we could all sleep. This was an amazing effort at very short notice, and we are very grateful,” says project leader Preben Rather Sørensen.
“The trip from Glyngøre where we started yesterday morning was wonderful sailing, with a good wind almost all the time. We logged 8–9 knots for long stretches through the beautiful Limfjord.
“Now we need to get a move on, because we still have to be in Roskilde at 2 pm on Saturday. The whole city will be turning out for us, and the City Council and the Viking Ship Museum have arranged a celebration,” says Preben Rather Sørensen.
