The International crew on board the Sea Stallion are getting attention around the world – lately the Germans have shown an interest in the ship.

The only language used on board the Sea Stallion when giving commands is Danish.

But when the steersman is not shouting his commands to the crew members, a lot of different languages are being used. Out of a crew of sixty five, eleven 11 nationalities are represented. People on board are primarily Danish, but there are also crew members from Sweden, Norway, Ireland, Scotland, England, Germany, Australia, Canada, The United States and The Netherlands.

And this international team – which are about to set out on a historical sail from Roskilde to Dublin a thousand years after the Vikings – are getting more and more attention from the international medias.

Success in Germany

Recently Visit Denmark – the national tourist office of Denmark – paid the Viking ship Museum a visit. Amongst the visitors were representatives from a number of European countries, including Germany. Not long after the visit German Medias portrayed the story about the biggest reconstruction of a Viking ship and its adventures in 2007.

And not only did they focus on the fact that a few Germans were going to be amongst the crew sailing this summer, but they also found it interesting that this is the first time in a thousand years a Danish víking ship is setting sail towards Dublin.

An adding up of articles about the Sea Stallion shows that twenty newspapers and magazines have written about the ship and the circulations of those is close to 1, 5 million copies a day.
